わたしたちの魚

川でのサケの捕獲はアイヌの文化そのもので、サケの捕獲にアイヌとしての誇りを感じました。先祖と同じようにサケを獲り、神に祈り、カムイノミをしながら、「俺はアイヌだ」と体が震えました。アイヌとして誇りをもって生きるためには、私たちに和人とは違う、サケを捕獲する権利が絶対に必要だと思いました。

Fishing for salmon in the river is part of Aynu culture itself. I felt pride as an Aynu in salmon fishing. Catching salmon just like my ancestors, praying to the gods, and making kamuynomi, my body trembled and said, “I am an Aynu. I thought that in order to live proudly as Aynu, we absolutely need to have the right to catch salmon as an indigenous people.
