私たちは十勝川の左岸河口部で生活していたアイヌの子孫であります。私たちはもともと、十勝川河口一帯において、イウォㇿ――いろいろな山・海・川に権利を持って生活していました。その権利のまずいっとう最初にサケですね。サケは神から使わされた魚、私たちにとっては一番大事な部分です。そのサケを捕る先住権があるのだということで、いま裁判に訴えております。

We are descendants of the Ainu who lived at the mouth of the left bank of the Tokachi River. We originally lived at the mouth of the Tokachi River with rights to the Iwor : various mountains, oceans, and rivers. The first of these rights is the salmon. The salmon is the most important part of the fish used by the gods for us. We are now suing them in court because we have the indigenous right to catch the salmon.
